Background/History
Keegan is your typical wizard-next-door. Having grown up in Hogsmeade (his family lives next to the Inn that they run), Keegan has always been very aware of his magic, Hogwarts, and the wizarding world (maybe not the wizarding-world-at-large, per se, but the wizarding world nonetheless). His parents, Marie Gallagher, a writer of various wizarding history and travel texts, and Ambros Blackwell, work together as well in the Hog's Head Inn & Pub. The family business has been a part of the Blackwell lineage since the 1500's.

The Hog's Head Inn, as most know, was the headquarters of the 1612 goblin rebellion against the Ministry. Led by Bodrod Cristiel, a goblin smithy, the goblin Rebellion in Hogsmeade did not fall short of the other goblin rebellions in reputation and was an equally bloody and vicious affair against the government's tax on goblin-wizard trade, before goblins seized control over the Galleon mints. While staying at the Hog's Head and plotting his rebellion, Bodrod fell in love with a certain Irish witch - the bartender's daughter - Arisa, married her and stayed in Hogsmeade and helped to run the Hog's Head Inn after the rebellion, in whch Arisa's father was killed. After Arisa (Keegan's great great great great grandmother) and Bodrod died, the Inn was left to their two children, Aodh and Nora. Nora married into the Blackwell family, while Aodh went in search of his family's goblin heritage, but never returned. Nora met and married a local wizard named Tumnus Blackwell, and several begets even after that, Ambros Blackwell was born. Ambros, a Gryffindor, met Marie, a muggle-born Hufflepuff, at Hogwarts, and later had Keara, Keegan, and Brady. The Inn has remained in the Blackwell family, and also as a meeting place for goblins and other strange folk ever since. Keegan is the only sibling that ever traveled with his mother on any of her writing adventures; the other two, Keegan thinks, are spineless homebodies with no imagination whatsoever.

Keegan Blackwell is the middle of three siblings, his elder brother being the outgoing ex-Gryffindor star and model student Brady, and his younger sister being Keara. Brady, already having graduated from Hogwarts and beginning a successful career at Gringotts, Keara being one year shy of attending Hogwarts as a firstie. While the two siblings seem to have their lives figured out (even Keara seems to think that she'll stay and run the Inn after Hogwarts), Keegan is a bit of a lost soul, unsure of where he wants to go and what he wants to do. While his father, Ambros, wants him to help run the family business (the pub), Keegan wants to be able to travel and see the world like his mum, Marie, who was a travel writer for wizarding locales and is the official town historian for Hogsmeade. Keegan is hardworking, honest, and tries to make the best of everything he has despite his confusion about his place in life. He finds hope in his friends (one of his closest being Mavelle Bloodstone, who he met through his older brother, when Brady was on Will's quidditch team in school) and in the stars. Keegan has always been a big-time dreamer, having been sort of in the shadow of his brother Brady for most of his life, but never feels as if he deserves the things he wants.

Keegan is also known for sneaking off to the family pub and finding more evenings in detention than not for it; he also likes to sit out by the lake at night and look at the stars, abusing some of his Prefect password knowledge in order to do so without getting caught for that.
